BSF is the primary border guarding force of India established on 1 December 1965. It is one of the five Central Armed Police Forces by the Union of India. BSF under Union Government and administrative control of the Ministry of Homa Affairs.

BSF has been termed as the First Line of Defence of Indian Territories. It is one of many law enforcement agency of India. It currently stands as the world’s largest border guarding force. At present, BSF has 257,363 Active Personnel in their organization.

Positions :- Sub Inspector, Constable & HC

Job Location :- Across India

Salary :-

• Sub Inspector : Rs 35,000 – 1,12,400/-
• HC : Rs 25,500 – 81,100/-
• Constable : Rs 21,700 – 69,100/-

Qualification :-

( Master ) :

• 10 + 2 or its equivalent from a recognized board or University. and
• 2nd class master certificate issued by Central/State Inland Water Traansport Authority / Mercantile Marine Department.

SI ( Engine Driver ) :

• 10 + 2 or its equivalent from a recognized board or University. and
• 1st class master certificate issued by Central/State Inland Water Traansport Authority / Mercantile Marine Department.

SI ( Workshop ) :

• B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. or
• 3 years Diploma in Mechanical / Marine / Automobile engineering.

HC ( Master ) :

• Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized board or University.
• Serang Certificate.

HC ( Engine Driver ) :

• Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized board or University.
• Possessing 2nd class Engine Driver certificate.

HC ( Mechanic ) :

• Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized board or University.
• ITI Diploma in motor mechanic for a HC.

HC ( Machinist ) :

• Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized board or University.
• ITI Diploma in motor machinist for a HC.

Constable ( Crew ) :

• Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized board or University.
• One year experience in operation of Boat.
• Should know swimming in deep water without any assistance.

Age Limit ( as on 27.03.2023 ) :-

• SI ( Master ) : Between 22 & 28 years
• SI ( Engine Driver ) : Between 22 & 28 years
• SI ( Workshop ) : Between 20 & 25 years
• HC ( Master ) : Between 20 & 25 years
• HC ( Engine Driver ) : Between 20 & 25 years
• HC ( Mechanic / Machinist ) : Between 20 & 25 years
• Constable ( Crew ) : Between 20 & 25 years

Age Relaxation :

• SC/ST : 05 years
• OBC : 03 years
• Ex-Servicemen (Unreserved) : 03 years
• Ex-Servicemen (OBC) : 06 (3 years + 3 years)
• Ex-Servicemen (SC/ST) : 08 (3 years + 5 years)
• Government Servants ( UR ) : Up to the age of 40 years.
• Government Servants ( OBC ) : Up to the age of 43 years. 
• Government Servants ( SC/ST ) : Up to the age of 45 years. 
• Widows, divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands and who are not re-married (UR) : Maximum age limit 35 years
• Widows, divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands and who are not re-married (OBC) : Maximum age limit 38 years 
• Widows, divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands and who are not re-married (SC/ST) : Maximum age limit 40 years
• Children and dependent family of those killed in the communal riots : 05 – 10 years.

Selection Process :-

• The selection process includes Written Test / PET / PST / Trade test / Medical Examination.

Written Test :

• In written test, there will be one composite paper for 2 hours duration.
• Question papers will be objective type with OMR based answer sheet.
• The syllabus will be explained briefly in advertisement. ( Check Advertisement ).

Phase – II – PET / PST : Candidates have to qualify in all stages of Phase – II.

Trade test : Trade test for each post will be conducted by selection board.

Medical Examination : Candidates who qualify in all the above stages of examination i.e. Written Examination, Documentation, PST & PET will undergo detail Medical Examination, which will be conducted by a Medical board to assess their fitness.

Application Fees :-

• Candidates applying for SI to pay Rs.200/-
• Candidates applying for HC & Constable to pay Rs.100/- as examination fee plus Rs.47.20/- service charges levied by Common Service Centre (CSC).
• Female candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, BSF serving personnel and Ex Servicemen are exempted from payment of examination fee.
