Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) (formerly known as Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET)) was established in 1968 by Government of India with the assistance of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at Chennai.
The main objective of setting up of this specialized institute was to develop manpower in different disciplines of Plastics Engineering & Technology as no similar institute was in existence in the country. International Labour Organization (ILO) served as the executing agency. During the initial project period between 1968 and 1973, the institute achieved the targets envisaged and was rated as one of the most successful UNDP projects implemented worldwide.

- Assistant Professor – Rs. 45,000/- p.m
- Lecturer – Rs. 40,000/- p.m
- Faculty – Rs. 35,000/- p.m
Qualification :-
Asst. Professor Gr. III (Plastics Engineering & Technology / Manufacturing Engineering) :
- Full time 1st Class B.E /B.Tech /B.S and M.E. / M.Tech. in Mechanical/ Chemical Manufacturing / Production Engineering/ Plastics / Polymer Technology / M.S or Integrated M.Tech in relevant field or equivalent with 2 years relevant post qualification experience. Candidates having higher qualification (Ph.D) will be preferred
Lecturer (Plastics Engineering & Technology / Manufacturing Engineering) :
- Full time 1st Class B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical/Chemical Manufacturing./ Production Engineering/ Plastics / Polymer Technology or equivalent with 2 years relevant post qualification experience. Candidates having higher qualification (M.E./M.Tech.) will be preferred.
Lecturer (Chemistry / Civil/ English /Management/ Comp. Sci) :
- Full time First Class in Master’s degree in the relevant subjects (Chemistry / Civil / English / Management/ Computer Sc. or any other relevant subject with 02 years relevant post qualification experience. Candidate having higher qualification (Ph.D.) will be preferred.
Lecturer (Plastics Engineering & Technology / Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering) :
- Full time first Class B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical/Chemical Manufacturing./ Production Engineering/ Plastics / Polymer Technology or equivalent with 2 years relevant post qualification experience Or Candidates having higher qualification (M.E./M.Tech.) will be preferred.
Faculty (Chemistry / Mathematics / English / Computer Sc. / Electrical & Electronics) :
- Full time first Class Master’s degree in the relevant subjects (Chemistry / Mathematics / English / Computer Sc. / Electrical & Electronics) or any other relevant subject with 02 years relevant post qualification experience. Candidate having higher qualification (Ph.D.) will be preferred.
Age Limit :- Upto 65 years
